"There are two lasting bequests we can give our children: One is roots. The other is wings."       —Hodding Carter, Jr.

  About Us

A wise person once described a school as a building that has four walls…with tomorrow inside. The focus of education at The Brigade School embodies this idea—by giving its students the strong roots they need to soar successfully into the future.

A co-educational institution, affiliated to the CBSE Board, The Brigade School has over 800 students, across Nursery to Standard 12 levels.

Located in J.P. Nagar, The Brigade School began its first academic year in 2004. Young in years and spirit, yet rich in academic experience, it has already earned the reputation of being an institution of excellence. In due course a branch of the school will be set up in the Malleswaram-Rajajinagar area.

The school is managed by the Brigade Foundation, a not-for-profit trust set up by Brigade, one of Bangalore’s leading property developers and an ISO 9001-2000 certified company.

Our Vision

We believe that:
  • Each child is a unique individual who possesses inherent potential of different types. Our objective is to identify, tap and develop this potential. To do so, we have to ensure that the child not only learns well, but also learns happily and, in the process, develops into a confident, complete person. Our philosophy is realised through the personal attention we extend to each child and our encouragement of open lines of communication between students and faculty.

  • Our students should have firm roots in our land, our culture, our language and our ethos. At the same time, we want our students to develop a world-view and become universal citizens who are aware of, and at ease with, other cultures, religions, viewpoints and lifestyles.

  • Education involves far more than the acquisition of knowledge. The real achievement of education is teaching students to enjoy the process of learning and to apply all that they learn to real life situations.

  • Co-curricular activities and a collaborative learning and working culture are as important as academics.

Our Logo

Our school motto and logo are an extension of our philosophy: let the spirit fly, let the mind soar into new horizons…

Our school motto...

O nanna chetana, aagu nee aniketana
O my spirit, transcend all boundaries

Our school motto is taken from the first line of the poem Aniketana, written by Karnataka's poet laureate Kuvempu in 1956.

In this poem, Kuvempu seeks to break out of the narrow confines of home, religion and country, and to reach for the eternal and the universal.

A household name wherever Kannada is read and spoken, Kupalli Venkatappa Puttappa (K.V. Puttappa, 1904-1994) is revered as one of the great Kannada poets of the 20th century. He has written over 70 books, including poetry, novels, essays and plays.

Kuvempu believed in “manuja mata, vishva patha” (mankind's religion is the universal path of all people), a philosophy reflected in several of his poems and essays.

Our logo is the visual translation of our motto.

Brigade School Logo

The bird, a seagull, represents the soaring spirit and intellectual freedom.

The yellow square stands for energy, optimism and happiness.

The fact that our motto is from a Kannada poem symbolises the need for rootedness. The script being in English represents a universal outlook.

Our Facilities

The Brigade School is located within the campus of a beautiful,
22-acre residential enclave in J.P. Nagar, South Bangalore.

Some of the enclave facilities—such as its landscaped three-acre park, with floodlit amphitheatre, mini-stadium and basketball court; swimming pool and convention centre—are available to the school.
  • The tree-dotted quadrangle, with a stage at one end, is the school's main "gathering place". It's here that students and teachers meet for the daily morning assembly, small school ceremonies are held and children enjoy tea and lunch breaks.

  • Spacious, well-ventilated classrooms open out into wide, bright hallways.

  • The "wall encyclopaedias" that run the length of nearly all hallways are as informative as they are beautiful.

  • Landscaped gardens at both ground and terrace levels.

  • Airy, well-equipped laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology and life skills.

  • Separate language and math laboratories.

  • A spacious and cheery library and well equipped audio-visual room.

  • A large computer centre, with floor-to-ceiling windows running along one side, equipped with 40 computers.

  • Tuck Shop, where healthy snacks are available during tea and lunch breaks.
The school will also have access to the state-of-the-art air-conditioned, 450-seat auditorium at the MLR Convention Centre, located just across the road. The auditorium has a large stage with professional sound and lighting facilities.
